# Gatherings

### How It Works

The DAO convenes diverse and inspiring builders to meet IRL at various web3 events and conferences (both local and international) in a way that forges relationships and collaborations. The DAO pays for some of our community members to travel to, co-organize, and operate these events. The Gatherings Working Group finds potential events for builders and a proposal is created for a particular event. If and after the proposal is passed, generally, an application is sent to builders for the event and the members of the DAO vote to choose a fixed number of attendees (in preferential order) out of the total number of applicants for the event. The chosen applicants then coordinate with the chaperone (for every IRL gathering, a Dream DAO champion is sent along with builders as a chaperone) and the Gatherings WG for coordination and travel logistics. After the event, the attendees have to create a ‘Learning Artifact’ which is an article about their experience and learnings from the event.

### Why We Created This

We wanted the DAO to have an IRL aspect. Meeting in real life forges relationships and collaborations and provides an opportunity for builders to meet and interact with various personalities. Builders are able to find and connect with people they’re inspired by and work together on various ideas and projects. We’ve sent builders to NFT NYC 2022, web3conf Goa, ETHMexico, Devcon VI, and others!

### Learnings

The attendees from these events try to bring the learnings from the event to the entire DAO through their Learning Artifact and even host a Learning Together session about their experience. So far, IRL Gatherings have been a great success and an amazing way for us to bring our community together to meet and build together.
